27 and 29 December 2014: Modern Day Prairie Girl

Happy 5th day of Christmas, friends! I had a perfectly lovely holiday (and five great days off). Saturday at work was quiet and productive but today at work…that was crazy and fun.

grey top, Old Navy Sweetheart skinnies, Crown Vintage boots, anthropologie hairband, Tardis necklace

New necklace yay! I love this top my parents found for me, but don’t often wear it to work. A quiet Saturday seemed perfect. It’s basic from the front, but I love the back:

Bit of fun!

All That Jazz dress, Gap sweater, vintage bangles, Crown Vintage boots

My friend/coworker and I did a Laura Ingalls Wilder party about 7 years ago, soon after we first started working there, and it was high time for a second! We played old-fashioned games, had a spelling bee, made button necklaces and rag dolls, did some trivia and made butter. That was my station.

Remarkably easy and the kids were just dazzled when they saw what they had done!

This is my rag doll, Charlotte! We also gave each family who came a Little House book, which further delighted them. It was a very long, very fun two hours!

  1. Wow! Such a fun idea with the LHOTP theme! You guys really make a giant effort to engage the patrons – that’s got to be such a fun part of your job.
Hope you had a fun-filled Griswold Christmas & will be having a Happy New Year hooten-nanny as well! – Jane

    • We are so lucky to get to do cool stuff like this! I love our programs – I do the educational ones, which are any related to books, too. So much fun. Next up – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
