1, 2, 3 June 2015: The Countdown Ends

Our summer reading adventure starts tomorrow at work! I actually did such a good job with time management that I finished absolutely everything this afternoon around 2:30 and then got cranky and stressed because I needed to be Doing Things and there was nothing to do but wait, ha. I did some ordering, made some phone calls, and that helped.

20150601-205009.jpg

Abercrombie and Fitch top, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, JCrew Factory scarf, Keds

So boring. So cold. At least I experimented with the scarf?

20150603-191152.jpg

Elie Tahari striped top, Old Navy Flirt skirt, Forever 21 leggings, Nerdtastic Agent Carter necklace, Hawkeye and Widow bracelets, Biviel t-strap heels

An actual put together outfit! I probably should have worn this the day before when I was training our new hires. OH WELL. I walked to Old Navy Monday night and I couldn’t have done that in these heels.

Check the cute necklace:

20150601-205021.jpg

It’s a quote from Agent Carter, which ends, “No one else’s opinion matters.” Talk about an excellent mantra. The default charm is her red fedora, but I like Steve’s star – also makes it more wearable with more outfits. Most Agent Carter jewelry I find involves guns (she’s a spy/special agent), so I was thrilled to find a reasonably priced one that doesn’t.

20150603-191156.jpg

anthropologie top, Sag Harbor skirt, Captain America necklace, Agent Carter necklace, White Cliff flats

Yeah, the shield doesn’t go with the outfit, whatever. My hair doesn’t go with the outfit, either. I went with it anyway.

I’ve been looking for a big achievable project this summer and I decided to do the Couch to 5K. I’ve never been a runner or jogger, largely because of my asthma and allergies, but I’ve been walking so much that I decided it could maybe work. So I picked up some earbuds and fangirl workout tops and did W1D1 on Monday and W1D2 today, on National Runner Day. It’s been going well, but I did realize that jogging and walking in heels use the same muscles, ow.

20150601-205014.jpg

Redbubble On Your Left (Rogers Running Club) top, Gap yoga pants, running shoes

The top refers to Sam and Steve meeting as runners in Captain America 2: Winter Soldier, heh. When I saw the designs, I had to do it. Makes me smile.

Also making me smile: BINGO. I was up last weekend for my mom’s birthday and he was a doll.

20150601-205028.jpg

Also smileworthy: my summer organization. All my beautifully designed logs (not by me; two by a colleague and two by an amazing freelancer), counted and organized on our cart and in storage. 20150603-191228.jpg

Yeah, it’s ridiculous to be excited by organization, but whatevs, do not care. T-12 hours!

26, 27, 28, 29 May 2015: Spring-Like

My mental brainpower for outfits is at a low point. We are T-2 days from our summer reading program launch (which I am running) and I am in the superhero mindset but not ready to pull the shirts out until we start. Plus, it’s been going from the 80s to the 50s and it’s confusing. And I’m afraid of all my skirts. Why am I afraid of all my skirts? I wish I knew.

20150526-213358.jpg

anthropologie Novelty Collar tee, Old Navy Flirt capris, ANA cardigan, BAIT flats

I love this top. It makes me happy. I also like this cardi untied, which I’ve not tried before. Good to know. Also, this is one of the very few days where I planned to get lunch instead of bringing it, so OF COURSE it was a torrential downpour, the likes of which we haven’t seen in ages. My jeans were soaked all day and I had to empty water out of my shoes, after going a block down to get a sandwich and back again. Sigh.

20150601-204813.jpg

floral dress, Loft cardigan, handbeaded necklace, Keds

Love this dress! Should have worn different socks! I haven’t been very awake in the mornings lately. I don’t think I’ve warn this cardi with the dress, but I think it goes great and the pink matches the flowers. Also, necklace! I haven’t been wearing many lately, just 2-3 fannish ones, but I still have a bunch of others. I need to get back into the accessory habit.

20150601-204822.jpg

Maurice’s top, Loft zebra skirt, XO crown necklace, Marvel charm bracelet, White Cliff flats

I put actual thought into this and got past my skirt fear and I like it. The skirt is still comfortably roomy, and this is one of my more fitted ones, so it’s not like my skirts don’t fit. Meh. Maybe once it’s consistently warm again.

20150601-204921.jpg

anthropologie Twirled Tiers top, Gap camisole, Old Navy Flirt capris, Captain America necklace, Alex + Ani bracelet, Keds

So tired. I take photos in the morning and evening for a chance at a decent shot, but all my morning ones look like this lately. (And I didn’t get evening shots because I headed up to visit my parents.) Bleary eyes and bad bangs. SIGH.

I usually have issues with this top, feeling wide/especially pear shaped, but it didn’t bug me like usual. Hmm.

I’ve always loved the OPI DS Reserve (pink with sparkles) and was inspired to buy the blue DS after seeing Hayley Atwell’s manicure at C2E2 – hers was more stormy, slatey blue, I think, but the pinks lined up well.  And I liked the contrast of blue and pink, so, score.

20150526-213403.jpg

I made sure to add a top coat immediately and the pink never chipped, which was a first, but the blue needed two touchups in 6 days. I love the sparkles, and it only took a few extra minutes to get it off, nothing problematic.

19, 20, 21, 22 May 2015: Superheroes

Summer training=superheroes! Saturday haircut=realizing my hair was longer than I thought!

20150524-123858.jpg

Teefury/Kare Hallion Doctor Who Sleeping Beauty shirt, Old Navy Flirt capris, anthropologie cardigan, Dankso sandals

I had three trainings this week, each one where I encouraged people to wear their favorite superhero or supervillain shirts this summer, so clearly I had to lead by example. ❤ Also, side ponytail! With only one or two bobby pins! All this time leaving it blah and down and I coulda done stuff with it. Blah.

20150524-123905.jpg

Eddie Bauer sweater, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, Mickey necklace, Bombdotcomgeekery Hawkeye and Widow bracelets, BoC Canty Booties

And of course the temperature dropped. But look! My hair was long enough for Heidi braids! With an obscene number of bobby pins, anyway – 13, I think. But still. I wish I’d realized that earlier. I love Heidi braids.

20150524-123912.jpg

Teefury Flash shirt, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, JCrew Jackie cardigan, Captain America bracelet, Aerosole wedge sandals

More training! Flash yay! An 8 year old boy came up to me at the desk that night and asked if I watched the show. I do, asked him what he thought of the finale, and he launched into an analysis of the science of the black hole and time travel. I seriously adored this kid. And then he gave me the flower he’d had in his hands, ha.

20150524-123933.jpg

(Yes, the Eleventh Doctor lives in my desk.)

20150524-123945.jpg

WeLoveFine Hawkeye tshirt, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, Gap boyfriend cardigan, White Cliff flats

HAWKEYE. Last training day = favorite superhero. Also, bouncy ponytail. Really, why did I wait so long to try and make my hair do thing?

My coworker in charge of decor put up a single lantern, as a test, and it was purple. So I used my position as coordinator to ask if I could make it Hawkeye:20150524-123920.jpg

I think it came out cute, bro.

We also have a neat display up, with a comic from every decade since the 40s and we’re challenging the kids to figure out which came when. So far, even adults are getting stumped, ha.

15 and 18 May 2015: Birthday Fun

This weekend was my birthday fun! And, um,this post does not highlight excellent outfits. Well, they can’t all be winners.

20150518-211656.jpg

Grey lace top, Old Navy Flirt skirt, Keds

I love this top. But it’s so loose that I need to create a shape to wear it to work – weekend wear is fine. I’m down on belts currently, so I tried a half tuck (because the back has a lace panel) and it eh, sort of worked. This may just be a working on the weekend/going out on the weekend top. I love wearing it.

20150518-211702.jpg

Anthropologie top, JCrew button skirt, hair scarf, Mickey necklace, key necklace, Aerosole wedges

Yeah. I don’t know. This one got away from me, probably needed to get edited. I’m getting my haircut on Saturday, so I wanted to get one pair of pigtails in before it was too late again.

I spent time on Sunday cleaning and throwing things away, and pulled out a Disney bag on my bookshelf. I’d thought it was maps from a few trips back, but NO. It held two necklaces! One of which I’d remembered wanting, and thought hard about buying, and looked for at Disneyland, to no avail.

Yeah.

20150518-211723.jpg

Hey, Mickey, you’re so fine.

And I’m so cluttered. LOL

So this weekend, I took myself to the city for some belated birthday fun. I stopped at my friend’s boyfriend’s comic book store and picked up the third Hawkeye trade – I had others in mind, but it was the only one on my list they had. I also stopped for my favorite macaron and a free birthday tea at Argo – the Teana Colada was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING OMG. Man, I wish my town had a shop.

20150518-211708.jpg

And then! I saw Book of Mormon. I got second row seat super cheap ($75?) because they were marked obstructed. But! They were not!

20150518-211712.jpg

What it was, was close enough to make eye contact with the actors, though. Multiple times.

The show was hilarious and awesome and had more heart than I was expecting. The Elder Price understudy was super awesome, very much like Andrew Rannells in looks and style, so that was fun.

I went through Anthropologie, looking to use my 15% off birthday code, but there was nothing. I was so disappointed. This hasn’t been my year with them – it’s been ages since they had things in my style. 😦 Everything is very boxy and flowy, and that’s just a terrible look for me.

So I stopped at Old Navy and found this:

20150518-211729.jpg

It was only sale, $20, so I went for it. I like it, but it doesn’t work as well with my strapless bra as I thought, boo. I’ll figure something out.

Also, as promised, Downton Labbey:

20150518-211717.jpg

Hee!

9, 11, 12, 13 May 2015: Birthday Week

Spring turned cold for my birthday. No fun! It even rained on my birthday, which I think has only happened twice in my thirty-odd years. Boo. But I’m trying to keep some summer elements in my life anyway.

20150513-191857.jpg

Kate Spade Leora dress, BP cradigan, Aerosole wedges

Like this dress, twirl! I do love this dress. I hope I get around to wearing it more this year.

20150513-191939.jpg

Downton Labbey tshirt, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans. Optimysticals Avengers charm bracelet

I hit the consignment store for some birthday browsing. In the tshirt Bingo gave me for my birthday, hee. It’s sort of covered here, I’ll do a better shot later, but it’s the Downton logo with a lab walking around, ha!

This cardi is Kate Spade, marked down to $50. I remember when it was on their site – I love the color, but I’m iffy on the gold and the fit of their cardis are always boxier than I like. I have a $20 credit, so it would only cost me $30 (and it retailed for $2-300), but I’m not entirely sold.

20150513-191908.jpg

Forever 21 striped top, JCrew Jackie caridgan, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans, Crown Vintage booties

I always like this color combo, it was an easy to reach for outfit.

20150513-191914.jpg

Junk Food Captain America tshirt, Old Navy Flirt skirt, H&M cardigan, Old Navy tights, Claire’s flower, Crown Vintage booties

I had a super super long day, hosting a networking meeting and presenting, and wanted something cute and comfy and relaxing. Hi, Cap. You rock.

Bonus hipster puppy!!!

20150513-191925.jpg

Mom ties his blanket around his neck all hipstery and then he tugs it off and it is hilarious and awesome. ❤ ❤ ❤

Birthday cake!!

20150513-191944.jpg

I like blue roses. 🙂 My brother can’t have…most anything….so we generally pie it for special things. This year it was an amazing key lime pie from Wildfire, but I require cake for my birthday so I stopped at Whole Foods. $3 for a slice and it lasted me 3 days! Well worth it.

5, 6, 7 May 2015: Summer Lovin’

All of a sudden, it is hot! New wardrobe pieces are now accessible! Fun!

20150507-110545.jpg

JCrew Factory dotted dress, Forever 21 leggings, Loft tie cardigan, anthropologie hairband, Crown Vintage booties

Okay, a little transitional. A little 80s? Whatever, I just read the Jem and the Holograms comics and it’s all good.

20150507-110549.jpg

Max U bow shirt, Old Navy Flirt Skirt, JCrew Jackie cardigan, H&M Love necklace, Marvel party arm, Keds

I ditched the cardi most of the day. I ditched the leggings after lunch, too. An interview I held over Skype showed me that while this top looks fine head on, it looks very cleavagey from a down angle. NOTED. (And I adjusted the screen a lot.)

20150507-110553.jpg

Charlotte Russe floral hi-low dress, ANA tie cardigan, Keds

Seriously, hot. I was tempted to lose the cardi on my dinner walk. I’m drinking my beloved passion tea lemonade from Starbucks. Summer summer summer.

20150507-110557.jpg

Pretty trees on a walk home. I’m going in for a hair cut and highlights later this month, and I do believe I want purple again. Yay purple.

28, 29, 30 April, 1 May 2015: End of the Line

It’s been a weird week, catching up on sleep post-con and getting ready to say goodbye to my boss, who left this week for an awesome new job. I tried to keep my brain in the game and at least come up with new outfits, and I think I did decently.

20150503-121603.jpg

Merona lace tee, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, Loft cardigan, H&M infinity necklace, vintage brooch, atomic socks, Keds

They’re sort of hidden, but these are awesome light blue and sparkly atomic socks from my friend KC! They made me super happy.

20150503-121609.jpg

Modcloth dress, JCrew Jackie cardigan, Hue tights, Forever 21 opera necklace, Crown Vintage dress

Stress = pretty pretty fit and flare dress. It was an Easter gift from my parents and I love it madly. The cardi is the perfect shade of pink for it, but I can’t wait to wear it this summer and show off it’s adorable keyhole in the back. Love love love!

But ugh: SHELLEY BRUSH YOUR HAIR. Sorry, ha.

20150503-121614.jpg

Harry Potter tshirt, Old Navy sweetheart skinnies, anthropologie draped hem cardigan, Crown Vintage booties

A farewell party for my nerdy manager means wearing Harry Potter, of COURSE. And also my brand new Black Widow bracelet, to go with Hawkeye, from BombDotComGeekery. Photo in next post.

20150503-121619.jpg

Anthropologie neo-gingham crossback top, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans, Modcloth Airport Greetings cardigan, Captain America necklace, Keds

And my manager’s last day – usually I go to my comfort silhouette, but it was a day for jeans because we were going to a coworker’s house to all drink and be sad, ha. Might as well be cute while you do it.

Things you see in a Kids Department:

Poor overly loved Bun Bun.

9, 13, 14 April 2015: Spring Has Sprung

Spring is here! It’s great! I’m mostly spending my time distracting myself in front of the TV! Oops.

20150415-082836.jpg

Charlotte Russe top, Old Navy Sweetheart Skinny jeans, shawl cardigan, Juicy Coutoure choker, Crown Vintage boories

Some days it’s more almost warm than warm. I find myself super sick of all my clothes, but I suspect that’s because I am so over tights for the season and can’t wear most of my skirts or dresses yet. I want bright colors and cheer! But also not to freeze on my way to and from work. It’s a quandary.

20150415-082841.jpg

Gap camisole, Coldwater Creek skirt, Loft cardigan, anthropologie hairband, Forever 21 Love necklace, Aerosole wedges

Ugh, this skirt. I love the print, I love the length, I love the color. But it’s too big and I tried 50 million tops before setting on this combo. Which I think is the combo I always land on, because it’s very easy to make this look very heavy and dark. None of my cardigans go with it. But it’s such a great 40s length. Sigh.

Also, shoes because I wanted to show off my purple pedi which has been hidden in socks.

20150415-082846.jpg

JCrew Factor dress, Loft tie cardigan, vintage brooch, anthropologie hairband, Bass heritage boots

Bare knees! Yay!!!! I wanted to feel cute because it was going to be a long day at work. It mostly worked.

My friend and I took a 2.5 mile lunch walk and these were NOT the shoes, ouch. I have, like, three blisters, all on my heels. Luckily it did not prevent us from ice skating today.

I got a new geeky bracelet to go with Hawkeye:

20150415-082851.jpg

I like Captain America more in the movies than comics (I need to read more Brubaker, though, and I’m excited to see what Falcon is like as Captain America) but man, it’s easy to find cute merch for him. So! This was only $10 on Amazon – if it was half an inch bigger, I could slip it on and off like Hawkeye, but nope, I have to deal with the clapse. Annoying, but what can you do?

Also, look! Between Saturday and Tuesday, all of this happened:

20150415-082856.jpg

So much color! I love it. I’ve been sniffly and coughing a bit, but I’ve been so proactive with my allergies this year that I am otherwise fine. And that’s a huge accomplishment, so yay me.

2, 6, 7 April 2014: Yikes

Seriously, where did the last week go?? I can’t believe how behind I am. Lots of outfits. Lots of Bingo.

IMG_5262.JPG

Teefury Flash shirt, Old Navy Flirt Skirt, Forever 21 leggings, Aerosole heels

I’ve really been loving the new Flash show on CW! I’ve loved Jesse L Martin since I saw him as a baseball playing alien on The X-Files, and I watched Grant Gustin on Glee for a year – I like him much better here, ha. It’s funny and science-fictiony and a little dark and it’s really just ridiculous fun. So when I saw this shirt a few months ago, I had to go for it.

IMG_5319.JPG

Elie Tahari top, Old Navy Flirt skirt, Forever 21 leggings, BAIT flats

New shoes!! Pink shoes!!IMG_5313.JPG

Aren’t they cute? My parents went old school and surprised me with Easter outfits this year. I’ve loved BAIT shoes for awhile, and these were on sale. \o/

IMG_5322.JPG

French Connection robin sweater, Gap tank, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans, Crown Vintage booties

It’s that lovely time of year when it’s barely out of the 40s but you can’t bear to wear winter clothes. I just can’t do tights right now, I’m so sick of them, so I’m stuck with jeans. Sigh. But at least I can sparkle with a robin.

Modcloth had their bi-annual surprise sale, for $15 I was surprised with this:

IMG_5331.JPG

It’s not bad? It’s a little normcore for me. But polka dots are cute?

I also picked this up from Teefury:

IMG_5243.JPG

It’s a Karen Hallion design of Agent Peggy Carter. I wish it had the second line of the quote (No one else’s opinion matters), which is on the print of it but not the shirt. Weird. I still like it, though.

Despite the cold, things are finally starting to grow. Tiny buds on trees and flowers blooming:

IMG_5325.JPG

Not by my parents, though. It was cold for Easter. So I snuggled the puppy:

IMG_5284.JPG

Who adorably got into an Easter basket and could not hide it:

IMG_5302.JPG

It was a nice weekend – my mom and I went for a pedicure together on Saturday. We both are madly in love with OPI’s Hawaii line. I chose I Lost My Bikini in Molokini, which is a blue-violet that doesn’t seem to have dupes anywhere. I super loved it, and then realized I chose Hawkeye purple. Awesome.

IMG_5268.JPG

It was just warm enough to sit on the deck for Easter brunch before giving up and getting warm again inside. Yay spring!

30, 31 March and 1 April 2015: Spring Break

Spring Break. Loved by kids everywhere, causing exhaustion to kids librarians everywhere!

This has actually been a nice week, weather wise, so it’s been slow, but slow spring break is still busier than a normal week. But I did try to dress springy in celebration.

20150401-195636.jpg

anthropologie Neo-gingham crossback tee, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans, BP cardigan, vintage coffee brooch, Tardis necklace, Modcloth kitty socks, Keds

Ah, I love this top. I love when it’s seasonably appropriate to wear! Also, isn’t that a cute brooch? My friend KC gave it to me when we were at Disney. It was nice enough to go for a mile long lunch walk, yay.

20150401-195641.jpg

anthropologie Flutter Hem tee, Old Navy sweetheart skinny jeans, Target scarf, BoC Canty Booties

HA, just realized I had a trend going this week.

20150401-195645.jpg

anthropologie Here and There tee in Scotty Dog, Old Navy sweeheart skinnies, Gap headband, Dansko sandals

All Anthro, all the time! Go figure. I didn’t have a clue, and I broke the trend today, whoops. It was 70 and AMAZING out. I meant to bring Keds for a lunch time walk, but we only went a mile before stopping for ice cream in the park, so, these were fine, ha.

See? Sprinkles are important on the first nice day of the year:

20150401-195649.jpg

Also, the first robins were spotted this week!!!

20150401-195658.jpg

Oh, spring, you really are here. ❤
